Trip 1 - Day 10 - Open Air Museum

Today we took the 6 Tram to Julga Station and walked approximately 2 km to the L@vtian Ethno-Graphic Open-Air Museum.  This is an outdoor museum that has preserved some actual historic buildings and attempts to recreate the way of life of L@tvians in the 17th and 18th centuries.  Warrior walked most of this way, and he was upset that his mama wouldn't hold him the whole time.  He did let me hold him as we walked the 2 km back to the train station.

Lots of walking today.  So much, that I think that I got dehydrated when we returned to the apartment.  After we returned, I didn't feel well at all and had severe-abdominal pains off and on.  By 11:00 PM, Kristie and I were close to calling a cab to take me to a hospital or urgent care.  I ended up taking some Dramamine and falling asleep.  I slept hard and woke up at about 9 AM.  It's Thursday now, and so far so good.  No cramping.  I feel fine.  Another American dad that's here adopting got extremely sick last night (possibly food poisoning).

L@tvian Ethno-graphic Open-Air Museum
L@tvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum (L@tvian: L@tvijas Etnogrāfiskais Brīvdabas Muzejs) is a museum in Riga, L@tvia. It is an open-air museum, situated in a forest park area beside a lake just outside the capital, with farmers village houses, moved from different districts of the country.
The museum was established in 1924, inspired by open air museums in Scandinavia. The plan was to establish a farm from the four regions, Courland, Zemgale, Vidzeme and Latgale, supplied by buildings representing different crafts. In 1932 the museum was opened to the public; in 1939 there were 40 buildings erected. Today 118 buildings are on display, as well as more than 3000 items. Most ethnic groups in L@tvia are represented in the museum. The collections count approximately 114,000 items.  (Wikipedia)
