Trip 1 - Day 2 - Sight-seeing

Day 2 was a very eventful day.  Some of us didn't sleep well, while others slept late.  Once we all were awake and functioning, we were ready to do some sightseeing.  After a quick run for coffee and pastries, we all walked to the Tiger Store near the Opera House.

Seth was the latest sleeper we had in the apartment this morning.

L@tvia will never be the same!
Walked through Old Riga and stumbled on the L@tvian War Museum (Dad, you will love this when you come with me on Trip 3!).  I highly recommend seeing this museum.  We were through it in less than hour (free admission), but easily could have spent several hours if it weren't for a certain five year old.  I'll leave it at that.

We know from first-hand experience that sirens went off if someone touched the display.  No joke.

Then we walked on to the Dome Square and sat and ate our home-made sandwiches.

After lunch, we toured the Riga Cathedral (4 Lats ~ 8 USD) and the courtyard with old building pieces/remnants from WWI and WWII.

These were actual tombs inside of the cathedral.
Stained Glass looks much like the church that my sister and I were married in.  (Not to each other.  She married John and I later married Kristie there).

Old war canons.

We then walked all the way to the river to take some pictures.

After that, we visited St. Peters Cathedral.  What a beautiful structure...

On the way from St. Peters we came upon St. Johns Cathedral (founded in 1201).  We were drawn to it by the beautiful pipe organ that we heard from outside.

After returning to the apartment, we headed back out to St. Peters Cathedral to watch the Youth Orchestra from Denmark perform (for free!).

We ate at CanCan Pizza around the corner from St. Peters, then returned to the apartment after 8 PM.

Day 3 will be an eventful day.  We'll see our Warrior again!
