Trip 1 - Day 5

Today was mostly a wash-out. It rained most of the day, but we were able to get out and walk for a few hours after lunch.

We started by looking up Hope for Children L@tvia.  This is a ministry founded by Helen Vipass that provides support for children that don't have families and are left to fend for themselves.  Her ministry provides clothing, food and shelter for children in several locations across L@tvia.  We called Helen, introduced ourselves and asked if we could stop by to meet her.  We found her main office behind an old building a few blocks away from our apartment.  She invited us in and we talked for about 30 minutes.  Helen was able to talk with Warrior in L@tvian.  We asked her what she needs most for her ministry, and she said 'shoes'.  Perhaps we can bring suitcases of shoes for our next trip.  We left her and gave her a bag of candy for the children that we had brought from America.

After we left Helen, we walked over to the Origo which is an indoor shopping mall. Warrior bought a small truck with his Lats, while Seth decided to by a big truck with some of his Lats.  Kristie bought a medus kuka (honey cake)!

What's extremely challenging about this trip is that the behaviors that Warrior exhibited when we hosted him are back with full vengeance.  The hitting, biting and pinching is difficult to deal with.  We could definitely use your prayers as we attempt to deal with and correct these behaviors.
This soup kitchen was passing out bread and soup.  Not sure if it was part of this Hare Krishna Centre or not.

This breakfast restaurant looked yummy!

  1. Our family knows very well about aggressive behavior in an adopted child whose come out of an orphanage. Since we brought our son home, we have taken him to behaviorists, play therapists, etc as well as had him put on different medications. I know how challenging this can be, especially with other siblings. Know that we are praying for you guys daily.
